Finally comes the May holiday. I have waiting for a long holiday for too long. Won’t waste this long vacancy, Urecca and me have decided to go to Luoyang for a visit. And from there, both of us will continue to hometown respectively, Jinan and Beijing.

We were only able to buy a railway ticket of May 2th. But we are still trying to find any tickets that could be a little earlier. And it will take 15 above hours to Luoyang. And then we will stay there for 3 days. We want to see Longmen Rock-caving, Shaolinsi Temple and since it’s time for peony to bloom we also fortunately have chance to see the beautiful peonies.

The Lighthouse won’t be updated regularly during the holiday due to the travel inconvenience. But, when we back, I won’t be stingy to share with you what I saw and what interesting things I encountered.

So, happy my holiday and have a good time lah!

Hot Chengdu

April 26th, 2006   Filed under English entries, Travel

This is my second time to Chengdu. But in contrast to the slogan on the ad board on the road side I just wanted to finish the trip asap. The slogan reads “Chengdu, a city you never say goodbye to”. But the task is hard. I have to do 2~3 interviews everyday in company by 3 clients and each interview lasted about 90+ minutes plus many unexpected emergency.

Though tough the trip was, I still could feel the charm of the city. It seems that the people here have been granted more time than peoples of other places. We had never entered any restaurant or tea house with slack business. Always, even during the working hour, there were many consumers eating, chatting or playing card. In the evening, you can see all the restaurants are crowded with people; the hot-pot restaurants are especially welcomed. People seemed like hot-pot very much. You must know that Sichuan, whose capital is Chengdu, is the original of the popular hot-pot around China.

When you in Rome do as the Romes do. I also went into hot-pot restaurants three times in the few days. Chengdu people love hot but Chongqing love even more. A joke can prove this. When you’re in Chengdu, the restaurant will ask you if you prefer hot or no hot, but in Chongqing they will ask you if you prefer little hot or very hot.

And this photo is taken in a Chongqing hot-pot restaurant in Chengdu when I dinner with a friend who works at Chengdu but comes from Chongqing. Quite hot, right?

And in order to change for some changes, I bought 5 box cigarettes for papa. Famous local brand, Jiaozi, heihei.

I’m in Taizhou now

April 15th, 2006   Filed under English entries, Travel, Work

@ 2006-04-15 17:39

I’m now in a net cafe in Taizhou now. To be eaxctly, I’m in street I don’t know at Shujiang, a district of Taizhou. I have taken many photos on the way from Wenzhou to Taizhou, but unfortunely, like most of the net cafe, I can’t extract the photos out of the DC. I am here along with a DC brought from the company, a Sony cyber-shot. Eazy to use.The local people told me that Taizhou consists of 5 districts including Huangyan(黄岩), Jiaojiang(椒江), Yuhuan(玉环), Wenling(温岭), and another one I forget the name. When I passed Huangyan by bus, I saw a big block of yellow rock was arranged at the top of a tower-liked bracket. That’s maybe tells why this place is called Huangyan. As for Jiaojiang, it’s because that there’s a river of the same name.

It’s very broad new booming city located at the east coastal area. Huge buildings, wide roads but little people. A taxi driver told me that many of the pesants here are quite lazy after their farmland has been brought by the government for indurstrial parks. Some young couples, even with kids, don’t have a thing to do for life, they just stay and play at home spending the compensation from the government. But latter another local correncted my first impression of the city. There are also many diligent people here who have succeed to be millionaires throught their hard works.

There are two interesting things here. One is that at many entrance of either shops or restaurants, there’s weight scale free to use. I guess that people here keep an eye on their weights, and maybe that’s why there’s few fat guys here. Another thing the city is differented from other cities I went is it has many pick-ups on the road. According to my primary analysis this is a result of two reasons. First, many people here own a business, a pick-up will bring much convenience when needed to deliver the goods. Second, there’s a pick-up maker in the city.

I’ll stay here in the city a little longer but will go back to Wenzhou tonight. And because I’m on business trip I may can’t updated regularly till next Tuesday when I back to office. I’ll post the photos here then.

Here I show the piz to you, taken in Wenzhou, Huyonghang Highway(沪涌温高速, may way fr WZ to Taizhou), and Taizhou.

Downtown Wenzhou, 5 horse street. There are many beggers, but I don’t think they are really beggers.

I had my dinner at Tianyijiao (天一角). A restaurant serves many local snacks. Very attractive.

The last dumpling of my dinner. Tastes ood!

I took a coach to Taizhou fr Wenzhou. The Huyongwen highway links the two cities.

There’s a big chimney at roadside indicating the flourishing private economy here.

But it can’t hide the beauty of the south China.

When I saw this, I knew why Huangyan (黄岩) is Huangyan.

Pickups are popular here. And a pickup maker is located in the city.

Jiaojiang is a new developed district.

Naughty kids are climbing a tree.

When I signed into yculblog today, I found the interface are floated with links and ads of ycul’s new service: Fifid.com

Congratulations, ycul! You are being versatile, but just one thing I don’t quite like: Don’t force your users to adopt the service(s). I have notice that the service has been provided to me automatically without my approvement. But I really want to have a try before I decide to take the service. So, I sugest ycul to first invite the users to have a trail before jamming a block of link into the mamangement interface.

Saturday, I will be on a business trip. This time, it will be a business trip I welcomed. Because I was send to Yandang Mountain! Never thought about a business trip to a beauty spot. It’s fantastic! I’ll arrive at Wenzhou at Friday night by air and the next day morning I will attend a product debut activity. I have been to Wenzhou once but didn’t go to the Yandang Mountain, an mountain being boasted in a article in the textbook. That time, Urecca and me went to Nanxi River(楠溪江), a river said to be the “天下第一江”. It’s really nice place, not many visitors, good scene, good river, we love that trip. In fact, that’s our first travel far away from Shanghai. We took a train.

I just received the notice of the job, haven’t got time to do a plan. I’ll bring back some news from there.

Travel route changed, workload is heavy than I expected:

Sat. morning : Shanghai to Wenzhou by air
Sat. morning : work at Wehzhou
Sat. noon : Transmit to Taizhou(台州) by coach
Sat. afternoon: work at Taizhou
Sat. night : back to Wenzhou
Sun. morning : to Yandang mountain, have a brief visit if time allows
Sun. afternoon work there
Sun. night : work there
