Today I left home for work with my Kodak camera and recorded the journy to my office. Today is the penultimate day of the luna calendar, there’s not as many people as it uraually was. I thought this was because many people have go back to hometown.

Get through a crossroal and it’s the line3 light railway station. The electronic check machine will deduct 5 yuan from my transport card. Though many people, but again it were not as crowed as uraral.

I have to change for Line4 at West YanAn road. This is my favorite stop since there’s park out of the window. I don’t know the park name, but the scene is good and many elder play Ma Jiang there.

After swallowed 5 yuan the check machine allowed me to go. Shanghai stadium arrived.

It took me 1 hour from my home to my office.

Buy a train ticket

February 11th, 2007   Filed under English entries, Life

It’s very very hard to buy a train ticket at this time of the year for most the tickets have been sold. Many people, including farmer worker, students and other workers in the city waited in quene at the railway station for many hours to buy a train ticket. It reports that 20M people want to go home by train in Guangdong province before this new year, but only 5M can get the ticket they want, most will be disappointed.

Train ticket is not a big problem for those who want to Beijing, since there are 12 trains each day go from Shanghai to Beijing which is much more than trains to other districts like Shandong. Urecca’s home is at Jinan. She went to the train ticket office on the first day it began to sell the ticket of 16th Feb. She only found that there’s a long quene at the office and the tikets had been sold out. Since we can’t get a ticket through the railway ticket office we turn to other ways.

One way is internet. Some people who have got a ticket may change his/her shcedule and sell the tickets on the internet. Many websites offer train-ticket-transaction service, like huoche.com, sohu.com, piao.com etc and etc. But there’s site you can’t miss, its kooxoo.com. Kooxoo is a so-called “vertical search engine” offering search service for some daily life related info. Search of train tickets sellling info is one of its core service. I tried my luck there and really find several tickets I needed. But when I click through to see more details, I find the tickets have been sold just minutes ago. Why? Internet is for every, if I can see the info, so do others. I keep searching on kooxoo.com for several day and come out to be in vain.

The second way is an effective way if you have some relationship with some one work in the railway system. One of Urecca’s neighbour happen to have a friend in the station, he himself have get a ticket by the help of the friend. So Urecca ask the neighbour to help. Soon the neighbour replied: he told Urecca a seven digit numbercode (03######) and told Urecca to tell the worker at the station’s ticket office and the worker will definitely sell a ticket from Shanghai to Jinan to her. So Urecca went to the station and told the number to the ticket office and it really worked!

Very mireculous, right? Nevertherless the ticket office have announced all ticket are sold out, when you enter a seven digit password, the tickets come out again! Then where were they? I don’t know exactly, but I can guess. They are reserved by some “insiderman”. If you know one of them, a ticket is not a problem. If you don’t know them, then wait in quene for hours or even a whole day to try you luck at the ticket office. The most possible answer is an ugly angry middle-age woman telling you “no ticket”.

A ticket is a vivid picture of the current China. Abuse of power, corruption, previleges and struggle of the mass. Such an unfair goverment, we don’t need.

Get a fever

I’m now sitting in the waiting room of the clinic. These several days I always feel weak. The feeling went critical last night. I couldn’t continue to work because I couldn’t stop my cough and felt some slight headache. I got home and Urecca took my temperature which was surprisingly high at 39.4C. Believe it or not, I’ve never got a fever before (at least according to my memory). So I took some medicine and really sweated a lot in the bed. This morning Urecca took my temperature again, it dropt to 37.4 but still above the norm 36.5C. Urecca had to go to work, but she insisted to stay and take care of me. Only when I promised her that when I get up I will definitely go to the hospital she agreed to go to work reluctantly.

Now I have come out of the hospital. The doctor found my temperature was 36.9 which is a normal level. She gave me some medicine to cure my cough. I paid 70RMB for all the fees including registration and medicine. Have took 7 medicine pills, I hope I can be healthy again soon.

When will the real estate bubble break? Or is there any bubble?

Come across an article talking about the trend of real estate price. It argues that the price nowadays is abnormaly more than 15 times higher of the annual household income in big cities like Beijing and Shanghai, compared to the 3~6 times price level in developed countries. In the author’s opinion, such a huge gap between the house price and household income is doomed to collaps into a moderate level, say 3~6 times over household income. This depicts a bright future for people like me who haven’t buy a house yet, the time the bubble breaks is the time we open our wallet. But is there a bubble? Some believe the high price will maintain a long time because of the rigid mass demand for new houses. Chinese consumers are different from its cocrespondents in west countries, a house of their own rather than a rented house is necessary. This means that most of us have the need to buy a house and thus the real estate developers can charge a high price.

Will the price drop or maintain high, what’s you opinion? I hope it will drop and I believe there’s quite a huge bubble which will be pricked through by the anger of people. From my common sense, if the people need to struggle the whole life to barely meet his basic necessay, the scioety is abnormal. A hamony society will not allow such kind of thing to be going on too long. If the government does’t see that 70% households can’t afford a house and quite a portion of real estates is of invest purpose, if the government doest’s here the anger voice of its people, people themself will do something to solve the problem.

When the pesents have nothing to eat they opened the landlords’ barn, don’t you remember?
