Heavy snow in Shanghai
February 8th, 2008 Filed under English entries, Photography
This is my 7th year at Shanghai after I entered Fudan University in 2001. In all the days back, only one snow in Shanghai left me some impression, ‘coz it’s the only one that didn’t melt but left some cover the city.
This winter, it brings the heaviest snow fall I every saw in Shanghai. And it was reportedly the biggest in 17 years. I took some pictures the other day on my way to office, using my Palm Treo 650.
I was lucky to see such a heavy snow in the south city. But for many in other southern provinces like Anhui, Hubei the story is quite different. The historical making snow has caused huge damages. It block the railways and express ways. And many electricity lines are frozen to break which caused failure of electric power supply in some region.
The heavy snow has blocked many’s way back to home for the China lunar new year and makes many spend the eave before new year in darkness. This is the most jumble China lunar new year I’ve ever encountered. I hope those suffered in the snow could restore soon.
